When we talk about government security, it usually conjures up images of armored vehicles and heavily-armed officials. But the reality is usually subtler. Government security solutions are installed at every level of government, from courthouses to federal buildings. No link in the chain of municipal facilities should be overlooked, as even the smallest security breach should be taken as a threat to our national security. From desk clerks to senators, every member of government should be made to feel safe while they diligently carry out their duties.
At Armortex®, we wholeheartedly believe that investing in robust security solutions for financial and municipal buildings is a choice that always pays itself back.
Government Security in 2020 & Beyond
No market has been untouched by the unprecedented circumstances of 2020, with a global pandemic coinciding with widespread socio-political unrest and climate issues to boot. It seems inconceivable that the challenges we have faced for most of the year will be solved, or even alleviated before the November election takes place. All this puts an unprecedented burden on government officials, without even considering the potential for threats of theft or violence, which are persistent at the best of times.
High-performance ballistic grade security solutions must be considered for all levels of federal government. Though it is impossible to arbitrarily assign a minimum level of security to an entire market, we typically recommend using bulletproof systems rated to at least UL Level 3. This provides a good level of protection from multiple .44 magnum rounds and can be applied to doors, wall panels, and windows.
However, as we mentioned at the start of this article, not all facilities need embassy-level security nor a militarised aesthetic. In fact, most government buildings need to be inviting as well as safe and secure. Public-facing foyers and front-desks cannot present a hostile front without putting citizens in a position of unease. At the same time, we cannot expose our government workers to threats by limiting their security in favor of comforting the general public. Fortunately, there is no need for a trade-off.
Armortex® engineers specialize in translating customer aesthetics and specifications into a perfectly rendered finished product. We offer a choice of basic designs, materials, finishes, accessories, as well as security levels, to provide the maximum level of architectural flexibility possible, ensuring that you can strike the right balance.
